Minecraft:Deep Ocean
More actions
A deep ocean is a variant of regular Minecraft:oceans with the seafloor twice as deep.
Generation
Deep oceans generate adjacent to oceans when the Minecraft:continentalness drops even lower. This means that they cannot border land biomes, except Minecraft:mushroom fields. The seafloor is twice as deep as in regular oceans, usually around Y=30, and islands are much rarer, yet not impossible.
Deep oceans generate in the medium temperature zones, bordering Minecraft:deep lukewarm oceans and Minecraft:deep cold oceans.
Description
Like in any deep ocean, Minecraft:ocean monuments generate in deep oceans, meaning Minecraft:guardians and Minecraft:elder guardians can spawn there. Tall seagrass also generates more frequently in deep oceans compared to shallower oceans. In any other aspect, deep oceans are the same as regular oceans, with a Minecraft:gravel seabed and common Minecraft:fish spawning.
Mobs
The following mobs naturally spawn here:
Sounds
When in any ocean biome, unique ocean Minecraft:ambience play randomly. Normal overworld tracks also play, alongside "Axolotl", "Dragon Fish" and "Shuniji", as the requirements for those are merely to be underwater rather than biome-determined.

Trivia
- Before Minecraft:1.18, the Minecraft:plains and Minecraft:forest biomes generated in patches within regular deep ocean biomes, similar to how "hills" biomes generated within their respective base biomes, creating islands.
- Although normal deep ocean biome could generate standalone, normal deep ocean biomes also generated in patches within normal ocean biomes.
