Minecraft:Diamond

Template:For Template:Infobox item Template:Relevant tutorial A diamond is a mineral that can be obtained from Minecraft:diamond ore along with various Minecraft:loot chests, Minecraft:vaults, ominous vaults, and Minecraft:suspicious sand. It is required to craft diamond Minecraft:tools, Minecraft:armor, and Minecraft:enchanting tables and is also used to duplicate Minecraft:smithing templates.

Template:See also Minecraft:Diamond ore can be mined using an Minecraft:iron pickaxe or better. An ore drops a single diamond. If mined by any other tool, it drops nothing. If the pickaxe is enchanted with Minecraft:Fortune, it has a chance of dropping an extra diamond per level of Fortune, allowing for a maximum of 4 diamonds with Fortune III. If the ore is mined using a pickaxe enchanted with Minecraft:Silk Touch, it drops an ore block rather than a diamond.

The ore is found at level 15 or lower, most commonly between -50 and -64, appearing more frequently as the Y-level decreases, but with a possibility of generation being prevented by bedrock at -59 and below.

Generated loot

A Minecraft:vault may eject a diamond when activated by a player, giving diamonds limited renewability if multiple players activate the vault.

Usage

Diamonds are mainly used to craft diamond armor and equipment, which can be upgraded to Minecraft:netherite armor and equipment.

Repairing

Diamonds are the repair items for the diamond Minecraft:tier and Minecraft:armor material, and thus can be used to Minecraft:repair the following items in an Minecraft:anvil or Minecraft:grindstone:

Beacons

Diamonds can be used to select powers from a Minecraft:beacon. The player must select one of the available powers then insert a diamond into the item slot.

A diamond can be substituted for an Minecraft:iron ingot, a Minecraft:gold ingot, an Minecraft:emerald or a Minecraft:netherite ingot.

Trivia

• Unlike in Minecraft, newly mined diamonds in real life are rough, cloudy stones. The largest, purest ones are polished into crystal-clear gemstones, while the rest are used in industry for cutting and grinding.
