Minecraft:Jack o'Lantern

Natural generation

Jack o'lanterns can spawn within Minecraft:taiga Minecraft:villages in Minecraft:piles of pumpkins that also generate there.

Light source

Jack o'lanterns can be used as light sources underwater.

A jack o'lantern emits more light than the Minecraft:torch used to craft it, emitting the highest Minecraft:light level of 15. They also provide light while submerged under Minecraft:water. Like most light sources, they melt Minecraft:snow and Minecraft:ice.

Note: Unlike most other blocks that emit light level 15, jack o'lanterns are a valid block to spawn on for mobs that ignore light level.

Jack o'lanterns can be used to build Minecraft:snow golems, Minecraft:iron golems, and Minecraft:copper golems as shown below. Snow golems require 2 Minecraft:snow blocks for their bodies, iron golems require 4 Minecraft:iron blocks, and copper golems require 1 Minecraft:copper block. The jack o'lantern must be placed last or the golem cannot spawn.

Placement

Jack o'lanterns can be placed without a block under them. When placed, jack o'lanterns automatically face the Minecraft:player. Jack o'lanterns can be placed on a transparent block. However, Template:In the stems are directional, meaning the stem will point towards the face, while Template:In the stems are non-directional, meaning the stems always face northwest just like normal Minecraft:pumpkins.

Jack o'lanterns are transparent in their rendering only; otherwise, they share the attributes of all opaque solid blocks. For example, mobs can spawn on them, they can suffocate mobs, and blocks attached to another block (such as torches and rails) can be placed on top of them or on their sides.

Unlike a carved pumpkin, a jack o'lantern cannot be worn.

Piston interactivity

Jack o'lanterns are destroyed when pushed by Minecraft:pistons, and cannot be pulled by Minecraft:sticky pistons.

Sulfur cube

Template:In development Minecraft:Sulfur cubes have the ability to absorb carved pumpkins, either through picking them up or being interacted with them. This provides the golf ball/fast flat effect to the mob when hitting it.[JE only]
