Fighting Dragonwilds:Monsters using melee combat levels a player's Attack to gain various bonuses that enhance their effectiveness with the skill.

Players can either use their unarmed fists or melee weapons while in combat to earn Attack experience. The higher the tier of the weapon, the higher the base damage, and thus the more experience earned. To effectively combat, see Dragonwilds:Attack/Strategies for more details.

In addition, players can gain experience from Attack Skill Tomes.

Equipment

Weapons

Dragonwilds:Melee weapons are split into two categories: one-handed and two-handed weapons. One-handed weapons allow players to also wield a shield. Some weapons have unique special attacks while some classes of weapons have the same special attack across variants.

Shields

Dragonwilds:Shields allow players to Dragonwilds:Parry while using melee which can apply debuffs to Dragonwilds:Monsters and reduce the damage received by attacks.

Armour

Players can earn set bonuses when wearing armour of the same combat type (i.e., melee, ranged, mage) and can mix and match within that type. For example, a player wearing a Paladin Helm (melee), Dragonwilds:Green Dragonhide Body (ranged), and Dragonwilds:White Platelegs (melee) will get the second tier of melee set bonuses and the first tier of ranged set bonuses. The melee armour set bonuses are:

  • 1/3 -33% block stamina cost
  • 2/3 +50% critical chance after blocking
  • 3/3 +25% damage to staggered targets

Consumables

Players can consume certain crafted materials to receive a temporary boost to damage or allow their melee attacks to apply Dragonwilds:debuffs to Dragonwilds:Monsters.

Boosts

Players can consume Dragonwilds:Potions, eat Foods, or equip Dragonwilds:Trinkets to increase Attack experience or increase damage and, indirectly, the experience.

Experience Calculation

Experience is earned based on the amount of damage dealt to an enemy (except for the Dragonwilds:Training Dummy). If the attack is normal, players will receive 25% of the damage value as Attack experience. If the attack is a critical hit, players will instead receive 50% the damage value as Attack experience.

Levelling

See Dragonwilds:experience for a table of the experience required to reach each level.

Levelling Attack grants access to both passive benefits as well as unlocking Dragonwilds:Spells and other abilities.
