This guide is a simplified overview of all non-experimental changes in Minecraft:Trails & Tales update (Minecraft:Java Edition 1.20 to Minecraft:Java Edition 1.20.2), which assumes at least some familiarity with Minecraft:The Wild Update (Java Edition 1.19.x releases), excluding experimental features in these versions.

Mobs

New

Minecraft:Camel	File:Camel Walk.gif	Spawns in desert Minecraft:villages.	Template:Xp (when killed by a Minecraft:player or tamed Minecraft:wolf).	The first mob to support two riders. Can be bred with cacti.
Minecraft:Sniffer	File:Sniffer walk.gif	Does not spawn naturally. Spawned by hatching Minecraft:sniffer eggs. Changed

General		Changed mob attack reach calculation. In horizontal directions, mobs' attack reach are now their bounding box extended in horizontal directions, instead of using horizontal width to determine. In vertical directions, mobs' attack reach are now the exact vertical range of their bounding box. When there's no overlap between their bounding box and their target's bounding box in vertical direction, they can not attack.

Minecraft:Smithing table functionality	Redesigned: it is now a workstation for physical equipment upgrades and modifications. Added a slot used by smithing templates to the left of the old 2 slots. Smithing templates define what type of upgrade is being made to the equipment. Netherite equipment crafting now also requires a netherite upgrade smithing template.
Minecraft:Wither effect particle colors	Adjusted to make them more distinguishable.

A mountain biome, similar to the Minecraft:meadow. Houses a lot of cherry trees. Pink petals generate on the ground. Sugar cane and pumpkins cannot generate here.
