Dragonwilds:Canon

Canon is a term applied to most franchises with one or more possible storylines, and refers to which of them is the official one to follow. In Template:RSL, Template:OSL and RuneScape: Dragonwilds canon may be used to describe the correct or official way the world of Dragonwilds:Gielinor functions, or how things or people in the game run and act.

Jagex tries at every possible opportunity to keep to the established canon,Template:CiteGeneral but there is still dispute about certain subjects, especially on sketchy and highly-speculated subjects, such as the history of Dragonwilds:gods.

Sources of Continuity

In RuneScape: DragonWilds, continuity is established through direct references to lore, entities, and materials originating from RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. These include references to the Dragonwilds:Sixth Age, Anima-infused Bark, and the visual design of creatures such as the Dragonwilds:Abyssal Demon, which closely mirrors its Old School RuneScape counterpart.

These elements function as sources of continuity, as they are supported by in-game Dragonwilds:journal entries, lore scraps, and material descriptions. Whether presented as environmental storytelling or documented records, such entries provide canonical context that links Dragonwilds to the broader RuneScape universe. According to statements from Dragonwilds:Mod Raven, Dragonwilds is written with awareness of both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape canon. Continuity Timeline

As stated above, the events of RuneScape: DragonWilds takes place in Template:RSL's timeline, in the Template:RSL, after the event of the quest Template:RSL, where the Dragonwilds:Gods no longer roam Dragonwilds:Gielinor, not specific to when. However, the history of Ashenfall, it's founding and the event that occurred there during the Dragonwilds:First Age, Dragonwilds:Second Age and Dragonwilds:Third Age are canon to both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape.

In cases where the lore of RuneScape and Old School RuneScape diverges, such as differing outcomes of major historical events, the game may adhere to one timeline for narrative consistency or, where necessary, establish an independent continuity.Template:CiteVideo
