Minecraft:Creative inventory/Historical layouts

From SAS Gaming Wiki

Template:Outdated feature

This page documents the historical layouts of the Minecraft:Creative inventory in Java Edition prior to Minecraft:Java Edition 1.19.3, and pre-The Flattening in 17w47a; as well as in Bedrock Edition prior to the introduction of the Minecraft:recipe book in Minecraft:Bedrock Edition beta 1.2.0.2. In the case of Bedrock Edition, the introduction of the recipe book in the Minecraft:Better Together Update is the only significant major overhaul to the layout of the Creative inventory since the introduction of the tabbed categories on that edition, even to this current day.

Java Edition Creative inventory before 1.19.3

In 22w42a, the Creative inventory was overhauled completely on Java Edition with completely new tabs, and all blocks and items were shuffled around within, replacing the old Creative inventory layout from 1.19.2. These changes were implemented in 1.19.3.

Below is the Creative inventory in Java Edition in 1.19.2, immediately prior to the Creative inventory overhaul:

Java Edition Creative inventory before 1.13

Prior to The Flattening, the order of blocks and items in the Creative inventory on Java Edition was fixed directly based on numerical block and item IDs. This meant that the layout and order of items in the Creative inventory remained fixed since the introduction of the tabbed categories for blocks and items in Creative in 1.3.1 in 12w21b. After The Flattening in 17w47a, the layout of blocks and items could be shuffled around, meaning the arrangement of items in the Creative inventory could be, and was changed, after 17w47a.

Below is the Creative inventory in Java Edition 1.12.2:

Layout before 17w06a

Before the addition of Minecraft:Saved Toolbars in Minecraft:Java Edition 17w06a, Materials were a separate tab from the Miscellaneous tab in the Creative inventory. This section below describes the layout of the Miscellaneous Tab and Materials Tab prior to the merger of the two tabs.

Pocket Edition Creative inventory before Better Together

The introduction of the Minecraft:Better Together Update's Bedrock Edition, and the addition of the Minecraft:recipe book in Minecraft:Bedrock Edition 1.2.0, was the only major significant overhaul to the Creative inventory on Bedrock Edition. From the introduction of the tabbed categories for blocks and items in Minecraft:Pocket Edition Alpha 0.8.0, the layout of the Creative inventory remained identical up until Minecraft:Pocket Edition 1.1.5 and Minecraft:Pocket Edition 1.1.7, with only a few changes and no major sweeping changes up until that point. This remains the only major overhaul to the Creative inventory on Bedrock Edition even to this day.

Below is the Creative inventory in Pocket Edition 1.1.5/1.1.7:

Legacy Console Edition

The Minecraft:Legacy Console Edition has never had any major sweeping changes to its Creative inventory. All historical changes to the Creative inventory on Legacy Console can be, and are described in full, at Minecraft:Creative inventory/History#Legacy Console Edition. As the whole edition of the game was discontinued in late 2019, the Creative inventory for this edition is found at Minecraft:Legacy Console Edition exclusive features#Creative inventory.

New Nintendo 3DS Edition

The tabs of the Creative inventory on the Minecraft:New Nintendo 3DS Edition had remained identical since its initial release. As the New Nintendo 3DS Edition of the game was discontinued in 2019, the Creative inventory for this edition can be found at Minecraft:New Nintendo 3DS Edition exclusive features#Creative inventory.
