A wooden axe is an early-game variant of Minecraft:axe that is crafted from Minecraft:planks. It can be used to cut down trees faster, to strip Minecraft:logs and scrape copper-based blocks, and as a melee weapon that disables shields. It is the seventh-highest tier of axe, having the lowest mining efficiency, the lowest attack damage alongside golden axes, and having the lowest attack speed alongside stone and copper axes. It can be used as fuel in a Minecraft:furnace, Minecraft:smoker, or blast furnace.

A wooden axe can be repaired in an Minecraft:anvil by adding wooden planks, with each plank restoring 25% of the axe's maximum durability, rounded down. Two wooden axes can also be combined in an anvil. Both methods preserve the axe's enchantments.

Template:For Template:Infobox item A wooden axe is an early-game variant of Minecraft:axe that is crafted from Minecraft:planks. It can be used to cut down trees faster, to strip Minecraft:logs and Minecraft:scrape copper-based blocks, and as a melee weapon that disables Minecraft:shields. It is the seventh-highest Minecraft:tier of axe, having the lowest Minecraft:mining efficiency, the lowest attack damage alongside Minecraft:golden axes, and having the lowest attack speed alongside stone and Minecraft:copper axes. It can be used as Minecraft:fuel in a Minecraft:furnace, Minecraft:smoker, or Minecraft:blast furnace.

Usage

Breaking

Wooden axes can break wood-related blocks faster than other tools. Breaking a block costs 1 durability.Template:Note <references group="note"/>

Stripping

Template:Ctrl a wooden axe on a Minecraft:log, Minecraft:wood block, bamboo block turns it into a Minecraft:stripped log, Minecraft:stripped wood, or stripped bamboo, respectively. This uses 1 point of the axe's durability.

Scraping

Template:Ctrl a wooden axe on a waxed or somewhat oxidized Minecraft:copper block removes the wax if it has any, or otherwise removes a level of oxidization. This uses 1 point of durability.

Weapon

When used as a weapon, a wooden axe loses 2 durability points.

Template:JE

A wooden axe always disables a shield, although there should be a chance of it happening. Damage done by a wooden axe is equivalent to that of a Minecraft:diamond sword, but it has a longer cooldown.

Template:BE

Wooden axes attack instantly with no cooldown and do Template:Hp less damage than a Minecraft:wooden sword.

Unit repair

Template:Main Template:Repairing

A wooden axe can be repaired in an Minecraft:anvil by adding Minecraft:wooden planks, with each plank restoring 25% of the axe's maximum durability, rounded down. Two wooden axes can also be combined in an anvil. Both methods preserve the axe's Minecraft:enchantments.

Enchantments

A wooden axe can receive the following enchantments:
