Programmer Art (Template:In) and the Minecraft Classic Texture Pack (Template:In) are Minecraft:resource packs that primarily use classic Minecraft Minecraft:textures from before the Minecraft:Texture Update. The name in Java Edition refers to the fact that these textures were created by the programmers of the game, rather than a dedicated art team; the term programmer art is common for referring to such assets in video games.
The equivalent resource packs are built into Java Edition and PlayStation 4 Edition, and it was available as a free download on the Minecraft:Marketplace in Bedrock Edition before getting delisted on June 5, 2026.

Ignored textures
Despite having a separate older texture Template:In from before the Texture Update, Minecraft:leather horse armor still uses its post-Texture Update texture Template:In. Mojang have stated that they have no intention to resolve this inconsistency.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>
The Minecraft:panorama displayed is always the latest for the version being played,<ref>Template:Bug</ref> rather than being reverted to the Update Aquatic panorama (which was the last iteration before the Texture Update) or the b1.8 - 1.12.2 panorama. The gradient overlay is also not displayed if the pack is active.
Several Minecraft:map icons are not reverted to their pre-1.13 appearances in Programmer art. Mojang have intentionally excluded the player arrow<ref>Template:Bug</ref> and the two player-out-of-map icons<ref>Template:Bug</ref> from the pack, whereas the old Minecraft:ocean monument and Minecraft:woodland mansion icons have been omitted presumably as an oversight given the ticket's Normal triage.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

"The classic Minecraft look you know and love! We recently updated the game with new and stylish textures, but if you prefer more of a retro flavor to your Minecraft, this is the pack for you! Why not try both packs and compare them yourself?
