The Greek Mythology Mash-up<ref>Template:Cite</ref><ref>Template:Mcnet</ref> (also known as Minecraft: Greek Mythology Edition) is a Minecraft:mash-up pack released on July 24, 2015, which is based on characters and locations from Template:W.
World template
Overview
The map is made to vaguely resemble modern Greece, with recognizable regions and islands such as Attica, the Peloponnese Peninsula, Thrace, Epirus, Crete, Rhodes, and Euboea—though some islands are distorted in shape or scale to fit towns and monuments. A few notable towns and cities are represented, such as Athens, Troy, and Olympus. Fitting the map's theme, locations and monuments reflecting Greek mythology and history are included, like the Parthenon, the Colossus of Rhodes, Medusa's Lair, Mount Olympus, the Pillars of Hercules, and Poseidon's Palace. The map's traversable in-bounds dimensions span 863 blocks on all four sides, with a total area of 744,769 blocks.
The Labyrinth
Located in central Crete towards the south of the map, the Labyrinth is a sprawling maze accessed from the harbor to the north. Within the Labyrinth are two towers; one to the east and one to the west. The western tower contains an iron chestplate, leggings, and boots, while the eastern tower has a chest with an iron sword, bow, and fifteen arrows. In the southeast corner of the maze, a hole in the wall leads to a small cave, at the end of which is a chest containing one of the twelve music discs.
Underground Labyrinth
Beneath the main Labyrinth is an additional, underground Labyrinth. After fully navigating the above-ground maze, there is a set of iron doors under a sculpture of a bull's head that acts as a shortcut. Following the path down the "throat" of the bull leads to the entrance of the Underground Labyrinth. The subterranean maze is encapsulated in a large, square chamber with a lava floor, and the maze itself consists of concentric circles with narrow ledges that makes careful navigation essential. At the center of the Underground Labyrinth is a small, circular arena with a chest containing another of the twelve music discs and an iron golem re-skinned to represent the Minotaur.
Overgrown Tower
On the north shore of Crete, just east of the entrance to the Labyrinth is a tall tower covered in vines. A ladder inside leads up to a covered perch, from which the player can get a panoramic view of Crete, the Labyrinth, and all of southern Greece.
Athens
Located in the south-central portion of the map, Athens is the largest city on the map and an overarching location including many other recognizable buildings and locations. Upon spawn, Athens is visible dead ahead, just across the straight from the dock. The player can enter the city from either the harbor to the south or the main gate to the north. Once inside, there are many locations to explore such as the Acropolis with the Parthenon (the great temple dedicated to Athena), the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (a large outdoor theatre south of the Acropolis), the Stoa of Attalos, the Covered Theatre, and a sprawling village in the north.
Odeon of Herodes Atticus
In the southeast of the Acropolis, a path leads the player down into the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Built into the slopes of the rocky hill, the theatre is an outdoor space consisting of the semicircular seating facing the stage and the elaborate two-story skene (the building behind the stage.)
The Parthenon
The most prominent monument in Athens, the Parthenon is the largest temple in the city and its grandest structure. It is perched on the Acropolis, taking up a large section of its southeastern portion. The temple from the outside is a rectangular building consisting of a wrap-around porch supported with massive columns; eight on the front and back, and seventeen along either side for a total of forty-six columns. Crowning the temple is a low pedimented roof atop an ornate cornice.
Inside, the Parthenon is divided into a western and eastern chamber, with the western chamber facing the main square of the Acropolis. The western chamber is the larger chamber and the main sanctuary, divided into two aisles and a central nave by two rows of pillars. Towards the back of the sanctuary is a statue of Athena, patron goddess of Athens, while the ceiling is sandstone with recessed glowstone panels. The eastern chamber is smaller and contains a double-chest atop a pedestal with one of the twelve music discs.
Statue of Athena
Inside the main sanctuary of the Parthenon is the Statue of Athena, patron goddess of Athens. The statue sits on a pedestal and is made from white wool, gold blocks, and sandstone. She is depicted with a spear in her right hand and her left hand on a golden shield.
Stoa of Attalos
South of the Parthenon and just across the water from Crete is the Stoa of Attalos. A large, two-story covered colonnade in southern Athens next to the dock, the stoa is a rectangular comprised of many pillars of brick and an open design. Each level has three massive braziers each to provide light.
Covered Theater
Sitting in the southwestern corner of Athens, west of the Stoa of Attalos, is the Covered Theatre. Unlike the open-air Odeon of Herodes Atticus, this theatre has a semicircular roof over the entire structure. Unlike the warmer sandstone of the Odeon, the Covered Theatre is built from normal stone brick. The south façade of the building has a covered porch that leads onto the main dock of Athens.
Corinth Canal
In the west-center of the map is the Corinth Canal, a subterranean canal that links the narrow straight that divides the mainland from the Peloponnese Peninsula to the large body of water between Athens and Crete.
Syracusia
Just to the west of the Peloponnese Peninsula is the Syracusia, a large wooden ship with two masts and oars. The ship consists of a deck in the hull and a main deck up top, with a wool tent over a staircase at the stern that leads down into the hull. The ship can be found carrying goods such as hay bales, wood, and TNT. On her two masts is a sail apiece, with the foresail being slightly smaller than the mainsail.
Siren's Isle Ruins
Traveling to the extreme southwest corner of the map brings the player to a crescent-shaped island, and just off that island's western shores in the shallow waters is the Siren's Isle Ruins. The ruins consist of a central subterranean room with a staircase leading into the open water, encircled by eroded stone brick pillars. From above, the ruins have a distinctive circular shape. One of the twelve music discs can be found in the central chamber, if the player braves the waters to find the staircase downwards.
Village of Athens
Making up the northern part of Athens is the Village of Athens. In contrast to the monumental Acropolis and southern shore, the village is more modest and humble. The structures largely resemble the pre-1.14 generated villages, though with their roofs replaced with a more Mediterranean design and most have more fleshed-out interiors. Between the houses are streets, large braziers, and plenty of plant life. There are also a few larger houses and a blacksmith shop.
In the northwest is an open marketplace (Agora) surrounded a large fountain, with several wooden stalls occupied by villagers. Nearby is a small gate that separates Athens from the desert in the middle of the map.
