Minecraft Live logo

Minecraft LIVE (formerly MINECON Earth and Minecraft:MINECON Live) is a biannual livestreamed event that features news about Minecraft:Minecraft updates and other aspects of the franchise. The official Minecraft Live web page is available at minecraft.net/live. Prior to 2024, the event took place annually.

There is often a pre-show and an aftershow, with the latter being called The Deep Dig.

Minecraft:Minecraft Live 2020	October 3, 2020	02:13:54	Annexet, Stockholm, Sweden	Marked 10 years of Minecraft:MINECON and marked the return of Mob Vote since 2017. Revealed Minecraft:Caves & Cliffs for the 1.17 update, featuring revamped cave generation, dripstone caves, lush caves, Minecraft:copper, Minecraft:amethyst and telescope (Minecraft:spyglass). New mobs such as axolotls. Added incorporates features from the 2019 Biome Vote, including new Minecraft:mountains generation, powder snow, and goats. Announced creator's features for making add-ons.
Minecraft:Minecraft Live 2021	October 16, 2021	02:15:26		Revealed Minecraft:The Wild Update for the 1.19 update, featuring the finalized deep dark content (originally planned for Minecraft:Caves & Cliffs), mangrove-related content such as its biome, wood set, propagule and Minecraft:mud. New mobs such as tadpoles and frogs, come in 3 different variants. Revealed Caves & Cliffs - Part II for the 1.18 update, with revamped cave generation, new mountains generation and improved world generation. (originally planned for Caves & Cliffs - Part I). Revealed Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition coming to Xbox Game Pass. Revealed the 2021 Mob Vote winner - the Minecraft:Allay, which will later be added with Minecraft:The Wild Update.

Minecraft:Minecraft LIVE – March 2025	March 22, 2025	01:19:55		Revealed gameplay content for Chase the Skies, featuring the Minecraft:dried ghasts, Minecraft:ghastlings, Minecraft:happy ghasts, Minecraft:harnesses and the player locator bar. Revealed the name of the Spring drop 2025: Minecraft:Spring to Life, as well as its release date: March 25, 2025. Revealed the visual upgrade Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals coming to both Java and Bedrock Edition. Revealed a new Bedrock Edition live event server based on Minecraft:A Minecraft Movie as well as earning a cape. Revealed more scences and exclusive information regarding Minecraft:A Minecraft Movie.
Minecraft:Minecraft LIVE – September 2025	September 27, 2025	1:09:10		Revealed gameplay content for the Minecraft:Mounts of Mayhem, this time revealing its name too for the first time: Mounts of Mayhem, featuring the Minecraft:nautilus, the Minecraft:zombie nautilus, Minecraft:nautilus armor, the Minecraft:spear, and the addition of the Minecraft:zombie horses to Minecraft:Survival. Revealed the release date of Minecraft:The Copper Age drop: September 30, 2025. Revealed the Dragon Ball Minecraft:DLC for the Marketplace.
Minecraft:Minecraft LIVE – March 2026	March 21, 2026	57:25		Revealed gameplay content for Minecraft:Chaos Cubed, featuring the Minecraft:sulfur caves, the Minecraft:cinnabar and Minecraft:sulfur family of blocks, and the Minecraft:sulfur cubes. Revealed the release date of Minecraft:Tiny Takeover drop: March 24, 2026. Announced the sequel of Minecraft:Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft:Minecraft Dungeons II.

Format

MINECON Earth / MINECON Live

• Initially organized as live events filmed in front of an audience featuring guest appearances, interactive audience participation, diverse panels, and mini-games.  

• Locations varied, with the events held in different parts of the world.  
• Livestreams often ran for about 1-3 hours.

2017–2018

• Minecraft:MINECON was broadcast live globally for the first time with MINECON Earth, allowing people from around the world to tune in.

2019

• MINECON Earth was renamed to MINECON Live, clarifying its distinction from the new spinoff game, Minecraft:Minecraft Earth.

Minecraft Live

2020–2021

• MINECON Live was renamed to its current name, Minecraft Live.
• Initially planned as a live event running alongside Minecraft:Minecraft Festival, but the latter was delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

• Livestreams often ran for about 1-2 hours and still performed live, but without an audience due to the pandemic.

• Content included previews of new updates, behind-the-scenes insights, Q&A sessions, and news from the Minecraft franchise.

2022

• Community votes shifted from X (formerly Twitter) to official platforms like the Minecraft:Minecraft Launcher, Minecraft:minecraft.net, and annual Bedrock Edition live event servers, expanding accessibility.  

• Updates were shared incrementally to address past mistakes, offering a glimpse into the progress rather than complete plans upfront.

2023

• Transitioned from live performance to a pre-recorded show.

• Livestreams became more brief, focusing primarily on franchise updates and announcements.

2024

• Introduced an overhauled, scripted format taking place at Minecraft:Mojang Studios H.Q. in Stockholm, Sweden.
• Livestreams are prerecorded and run for around an 1 hour; the main show is a half hour.
• Minecraft:Lydia Winters made her final appearance as host before departing from Mojang Studios in October 2024.
• Community votes were retired from Minecraft Live.

2025–present

• A new aftershow, The Deep Dig, was introduced, featuring Minecraft:Vu Bui as the host and Minecraft developers and creators discussing and showcasing the new features. Following Lydia Winters quitting Mojang Studios, is no designated host for the main show.
• Minecraft Live is now a biannual event, with 2 shows a year in spring and fall.

• The format emphasized delivering updates and announcements for the Minecraft franchise.

Community Vote

Template:MainThe Community Vote was an annual event and community poll that took place during or just before Minecraft LIVE events.

It allowed viewers to vote for a new Minecraft:mob or Minecraft:biome to be added to the game in a future update.

Developer speakers

According to Minecraft:Ulraf, the developers that make an appearance at a given Minecraft LIVE to announce new features are the developers of said features, though occasionally this isn't the case to give different developers the opportunity to appear.<ref> https://youtu.be/2cxUNoWNy50?t=8767</ref>
