Template:Update Template:Infobox entity A parched is a Minecraft:skeleton variant that spawns in Minecraft:deserts. Parched behave similar to skeletons, but have less Minecraft:health, do not burn in Minecraft:sunlight, fire their Minecraft:bows more slowly, take freeze damage, cannot convert to Minecraft:strays, and shoot Minecraft:tipped arrows of Minecraft:Weakness.
Spawning
Parched can spawn in Minecraft:deserts at night, replacing some Minecraft:skeletons.
Template:IN, parched spawn directly under the sky in groups of 4 in place of 50% of all skeletons spawned in desert biomes.
Template:IN, parched spawn on the surface in groups of 2-4 in place of Template:Frac (~33%) of all skeletons spawned in desert biomes.
Camel husk jockeys
When a Minecraft:husk spawns naturally and spawns in a space that does not block the collision box required for a Minecraft:camel husk, it has a 10% chance to spawn as a Minecraft:camel husk jockey, i.e. riding a camel husk, and spawning a parched as the second passenger.
Spider jockeys
Template:ExclusiveMinecraft:Spiders and Minecraft:cave spiders spawned in deserts have a 1% chance to spawn as a Minecraft:spider jockey, with an 80% chance of the rider being a parched.
Drops
On death
- Any picked-up equipment has a 100% chance of dropping and drops with the same damage level it had when picked up.
- Any naturally spawned equipment, including the Minecraft:bow, has an 8.5% chance of dropping (9.5% with Minecraft:Looting I, 10.5% with Looting II and 11.5% with Looting III). It is damaged and may be enchanted.
- Template:Xp Minecraft:experience orbs when killed by a player or tamed Minecraft:wolf and an extra Template:Xp if the parched has Minecraft:armor.
Behavior
Parched mostly behave like normal Minecraft:skeletons except that they shoot extended Minecraft:arrows of Weakness instead of normal arrows, have their cooldown between each Minecraft:bow shot longer than normal skeletons at every 3.5 seconds on Easy and Normal and every 2.5 seconds on Hard, and they do not burn in sunlight. Parched are also immune to the Minecraft:Weakness effect, although this typically makes no effective difference since parched attack using projectiles, which are themselves not affected by Weakness.
In Template:BE, like normal skeletons, Minecraft:strays and Minecraft:bogged, parched also do not retaliate against attacks from Minecraft:breezes, despite them not spawning at the Minecraft:trial chambers. Breezes also don't retaliate against attacks from parched.
Template:IN, the eyes of parched are Minecraft:emissive when Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals is enabled.
Being an Minecraft:undead mob, they are:
- Damaged by the status effect Minecraft:Instant Health and healed by the status effect Minecraft:Instant Damage.
- Unaffected by the status effects Minecraft:Regeneration and Minecraft:Poison.
- Ignored by the Minecraft:wither.
- Affected by the Minecraft:Smite Minecraft:enchantment.
- Unable to swim in Minecraft:water, but do not drown.
- A threat to Minecraft:armadillos, causing them to hide in their shell.
Because they are under the "skeletons" Minecraft:entity type tagTemplate:Only, if a parched kills a Minecraft:creeper, the creeper drops a Minecraft:music disc, randomly selected from Minecraft:13, cat, blocks, Minecraft:chirp, Minecraft:far, Minecraft:mall, Minecraft:mellohi, Minecraft:stal, Minecraft:strad, Minecraft:ward, Minecraft:11, and Minecraft:wait. They also run away from wild and tamed wolves similar to other skeleton variants.
Similar to Minecraft:bogged, parched take freezing Minecraft:damage and do not convert into Minecraft:strays.<ref>Template:Bug</ref> Unlike Minecraft:husks converting into zombies, parched do not turn into skeletons when submerged in Minecraft:water for too long.
