Template:Infobox biome The windswept savanna or savanna mutated is a shattered and mountainous variant of the Minecraft:savanna that generates in areas with high erosion close to Minecraft:swamps and other Minecraft:windswept biomes. The terrain consists of huge cliffs and floating islands covered with Minecraft:coarse dirt, Minecraft:stone, and savanna vegetation.

Generation

Windswept savannas are the rarest savanna variant and usually span only a small area. They generate where erosion is moderately high and weirdness is positive, often at or near the coast, in temperatures from temperate to hot and in any humidity except very high. Windswept savannas do not necessarily generate alongside other savanna variants and may appear in isolation, even as islands.

Relatively rare biomes such as Minecraft:windswept hills, Minecraft:windswept forests, Minecraft:swamps, Minecraft:mangrove swamps, and Minecraft:sunflower plains can border windswept savannas. Minecraft:Old growth birch forests and Minecraft:sparse jungles are frequent borders, while common biomes like Minecraft:plains, Minecraft:forests, savannas, and Minecraft:deserts also often generate nearby.

The terrain can include extremely steep mountains, enormous overhangs, Minecraft:floating islands, tall waterfalls and lavafalls, and peaks that reach the generation height limit of Y=256. Deep, large lakes may form at the bases of the mountains.

Cave biomes are rarer beneath windswept savannas compared to most biomes, though Minecraft:lush caves occasionally generate underground where humidity is somewhat high.

Description

The terrain is covered with a mixture of Minecraft:grass block patches and Minecraft:coarse dirt patches, with a large amount of exposed Minecraft:stones. Unlike regular savannas, Minecraft:tall grass, Minecraft:villages, and Minecraft:pillager outposts cannot generate in this biome.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Farm animals spawn as warm variants in this biome. Minecraft:Armadillos, Minecraft:horses, and Minecraft:donkeys still appear like in regular savannas, as do hostile Minecraft:zombie horsemen during the Minecraft:nighttime. In Minecraft:Bedrock Edition, Minecraft:llamas also live here.

The giant overhangs often reduce skylight on the terrain similar to Minecraft:caves, allowing hostile mobs to spawn at day.

With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, windswept savannas use warmish color grading that tints the environment more orange/yellow. The night sky is slightly brighter and moonlight appears more vibrant blue.
