The mangrove swamp is a wetland Minecraft:biome populated with Minecraft:mud and Minecraft:mangroves where Minecraft:slimes, Minecraft:frogs, and Minecraft:bogged can spawn.

Generation

Mangrove swamps generate in warm regions where erosion is very high. Typically flat, they frequently border Minecraft:deserts, Minecraft:savannas, Minecraft:jungles, Minecraft:forests, and Minecraft:plains. These biomes are sometimes entirely surrounded by the mangrove swamp. Minecraft:River biomes cannot flow through mangrove swamps, but the waters may merge where the river ends at the mangrove swamp boundary.

Mangrove swamps never border the Minecraft:ocean directly, though the bodies of water may merge when a river or submerged Minecraft:beach biome forms the boundary. In cooler areas, mangrove swamps transition into regular Minecraft:swamps. Mangrove swamps are often near Minecraft:windswept savanna biomes.

Where weirdness is low, Minecraft:sulfur caves can often generate underground.

Description

Mangrove swamp biomes are a variant of the Minecraft:swamp biome featuring dense Minecraft:mangrove trees which vary in height and sometimes contain a Minecraft:bee nest with Minecraft:bees. The floor is mainly composed of mud blocks with occasional grass block or dirt Minecraft:disks. Minecraft:Seagrass litters the bottom of flooded areas, and Minecraft:lily pads dot the water's surface.

Template:IN, unlike most Overworld biomes, Minecraft:mushrooms do not generate here. The grass has the same color as the normal swamp, determined by a Minecraft:temperature gradient, but leaves and vines have a unique light green tint, and the water is teal rather than gray. Warm Minecraft:frogs and Minecraft:tropical fish are the only passive mobs that spawn in this biome.

Additional Minecraft:slimes may spawn in mangrove swamps during the night, exclusively between Y=50 and Y=70. Their spawn rate is affected by the Minecraft:moon phase, spawning most often during full moon and not spawning at all during new moon. Minecraft:Bogged add an additional threat to the night, thunderstorms, or caves.Template:Only

Mangrove swamp biomes, alongside Minecraft:deserts and regular swamps, can generate Minecraft:fossils underground. However, Minecraft:swamp huts do not generate here.

Minecraft:Villagers that spawn in mangrove swamps get a unique swamp-themed look. While villages don't generate in swamps, they are commonly found bordering one with some houses in the biome. Otherwise, swamp villagers can only spawn by curing Minecraft:zombie villagers in this biome or breeding villagers here.

Underwater Minecraft:fog is thick here, making visibility lower underwater. With Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, mangrove swamps use a strong humid volumetric fog setting similar to Minecraft:jungles, which fades the distance in an orange tint, and moonlight is colored more vibrant blue. Mangrove swamps have brighter blue daytime sky colors, and a slightly warmer color grading, but not as much as jungles.
