Template:Hatnote Template:Infobox item A leather cap<ref group="fn">Also known as a leather hat in British English.</ref> is a variant of Minecraft:helmet that is crafted from Minecraft:leather. It is the eighth-highest tier of helmet, having the lowest armor points and durability. Like all leather armor, it can be Minecraft:dyed and protects the wearer from freezing.

Mob loot

Minecraft:Zombies, Minecraft:husks, skeletons, strays, and bogged have a small chance to spawn wearing armor, which may include a leather cap. There is a 8.5% chance (9.5% with Looting I, 10.5% with Looting II and 11.5% with Looting III) for the mob to drop the cap they're wearing upon death. The dropped cap is usually badly damaged, and may be enchanted with enchantment levels 5-19.

Usage

When worn, a leather cap provides 1 (Template:Armorbar) armor point.

Powder snow

As with all pieces of leather armor, wearing a leather cap protects the player from freezing in powder snow.

Unit repair

{{#vardefine:params|0 }}Template:Hatnote Template:Repairing

A leather cap can be repaired in an Minecraft:anvil by adding Minecraft:leather, with each leather restoring 25% the cap's maximum durability, rounded down. Two helmets of the same tier can also be combined in an anvil. Both methods preserve the cap's enchantments.

Enchantments

A leather cap can receive the following enchantments.

Armor trimming

It is possible to upgrade armor with trims. This requires a smithing template, a leather cap, and an ingot or crystal (iron ingot, copper ingot, gold ingot, netherite ingot, Minecraft:emerald, redstone dust, lapis lazuli, amethyst shard, nether quartz, Minecraft:diamond, or resin brick).

These trims have no effect on the gameplay or strength of the armor. Template:Smithing

Dyeing

{{#vardefine:params|0 }}Template:Hatnote

Leather caps can be dyed by combining it with Minecraft:dye(s) through crafting in Template:Editions, or by {{#vardefine: control | right click on mouse or left trigger on gamepad }}using it on a Minecraft:cauldron containing dyed Minecraft:water in Template:Editions. {{#vardefine: control | right click on mouse or left trigger on gamepad }}Using dyed leather caps on a cauldron containing ordinary water removes any dye from it.
