20w14a is the tenth Minecraft:snapshot for Minecraft:Java Edition 1.16, released on April 2, 2020,<ref name="20w14a">Template:Snap</ref> which adds Minecraft:zoglins, makes some changes to Minecraft:striders, and fixes bugs.

• Created when a Minecraft:hoglin is brought into the Overworld.
• Unlike hoglins, they can't be bred or fed, and they don't flee from Minecraft:warped fungus.
• Attack most mobs on sight, except for Minecraft:creepers and other zoglins.

Items

Minecraft:Compass

• Now has LodestonePos, LodestoneDimension, and LodestoneTracked data fields. If LodestoneTracked is zero, the game skips checking for a Minecraft:lodestone in the specified position.
• Can now be enchanted with Minecraft:Curse of Vanishing.

Minecraft:Warped fungus on a stick

• Now has 100 durability instead of 25.
• Takes 1 damage whenever the strider's speed is boosted.

Mobs

Minecraft:Hoglins

• Now become Minecraft:zoglins in the Overworld.
• Now avoid Minecraft:nether portals and Minecraft:respawn anchors.

Minecraft:Piglins

• Now avoid zoglins in the same way they avoid Minecraft:zombified piglins.

Minecraft:Striders

• Riding speed has now been significantly increased to be even faster than that of a boat.Template:More info

Minecraft:Advancements

• The advancements "Monster Hunter" and "Monsters Hunted" now include Minecraft:elder guardians, Minecraft:ender dragons, Minecraft:endermites, Minecraft:vexes, Minecraft:withers, and Minecraft:zoglins.

Minecraft:Attributes

• Items and entities no longer keep unknown attributes.
• Names of some attributes have been renamed to meet Minecraft:resource location requirements (i.e., lowercase separated by underscores instead of camel case).

• The main menu Minecraft:Panorama overlay has been removed.
• The main menu Panorama is now in the Nether.
  • Since this was an asset update, all of the 1.16 snapshots have the new backdrop.

Minecraft:Statistics

• General statistics are now ordered alphabetically in the statistics menu.

Minecraft:Tags

• Added nether portals and respawn anchors to the Template:Cd block tag.

World save files

• Region files are now read/written in synchronous mode to help prevent data loss and corruption after crash.
  • Dedicated servers can disable that by changing Template:Cd inside Minecraft:server.properties.

Trivia

• Unlike most of the first-of-the-week actual snapshots, this was released on a Thursday instead of Wednesday, similar to the snapshots before Minecraft:14w26a.
  • This is because an April Fools' joke snapshot Minecraft:Java Edition 20w14infinite was released on April 1, 2020, which is a Wednesday.
