Dragonwilds:Imaru/Strategies
More actions
This is a strategy guide page on defeating Dragonwilds:Imaru. Depending on your world's difficulty setting (Normal or Hard), refer to the relevant section.
Recommended setup
As Imaru is a Dragonwilds:power level 5 entity, she can only be survived by players who are at least power level 5 or above.
Inventory
Players should have in their inventory the following:
- Good Dragonwilds:food with combination Dragonwilds:perks
- Infusion drinks
- Dragonwilds:Ferocious Infusions for Melee fighters
- Dragonwilds:Relentless Infusions for Ranged fighters
- Dragonwilds:Arcane Infusions for Magic fighters
- Healing supplies (ex: Dragonwilds:Large Wardstones and Dragonwilds:Lesser Healing Potion)
- Dragonwilds:Fire Runes and Dragonwilds:Air Runes to cast Dragonwilds:Enchant Weapon: Fire and Dragonwilds:Tempest Shield, respectively
- Dragonwilds:Magical Focus if using magic for attacking Imaru
- Runes to cast Dragonwilds:Spectral Arrows if using 2-handed Ranged attacks
- Plenty of Dragonwilds:Law Runes for Dragonwilds:Lodestone teleportation to/from Imaru's Lair
Preset
Players should equip any level 5 armour of their combat choice, as they have the same set effect and stats. Below is a set up of a basic and advanced In the inventory, there is a suggested item to either switch to or use if you prefer them over the ones listed in the equipment or hotbar slots.
Basic Preset
The basic preset is for for casual players who are looking for a more basic set up, requiring less resources and materials. This set up will require a timely dodge, parry and attacks to avoid taking too much damage. <tabber> Basic Melee= Template:Inventory |-| Basic Ranged= Template:Inventory |-| Basic Magic= Template:Inventory </tabber>
Advance Preset
The advance preset is for players who are looking to do more damage while tanking enough damage as well, require a bit more resources and material. This set up will still require timely dodges and attacks to avoid going through your potions and wardstones. This setup is recommended against Imaru's Hard Mode strategy. <tabber> Advance Melee= Template:Inventory |-| Advance Ranged= Template:Inventory |-| Advance Magic= Template:Inventory </tabber>
Normal Mode: Strategy
With Imaru in normal mode, Imaru can be soloed or done with more players in the party.
Imaru's main attacks are energy bolts that launch towards you when flying, fire-breathing sweeps when she is on the platform, and foot stomps, which can launch a rot, earth spike-like attack towards the player, which fills up the Dragonwilds:Wither status.
Phase 1
Before entering Imaru's tower, drink an Infusion. Once you enter Imaru's tower, do the following:
- Melee, immediately cast Dragonwilds:Enchant Weapon: Fire on your main melee weapon and cast the Dragonwilds:Tempest Shield spell. Imaru will appear on the platform within five seconds, so be prepared to run towards Imaru to avoid any of her ground spike attacks.
- Magic, use Dragonwilds:Magical Focus, you can also cast Dragonwilds:Surge if you want to avoid her attacks easier
- Range, is using Dragonwilds:Bows, be sure to cast spectral arrows.
Once Imaru starts attacking, avoid as much as you can and start aiming to do damage to her. For critical damages, try aiming these attacks towards her heart, which will be hard to hit unless using melee. You will be able to dodge most of her attacks, such as her foot stomp rot attack, which will aim directly at you (unless you are under her belly). Her next attack is a fire-breathing spell that sweeps from the player's right to left (or vice versa in her next iterations). This can be avoided by staying under her belly. Once she has performed both attacks, she will fly away and reappear after five seconds. Be sure to check your vitals and see if you need to replenish your lifeward and/or health.
Her next attack is spitting three rot bolts that will build up wither effect whilst in the air, so if you're using melee, you will need to wait till she is out of this attack style. If using Range or Magic, it is advised to attack her only twice to have time to dodge the rot bolt attacks. Make sure you time your dodge; they are like missiles and will still hit if you dodge too early.
Imaru will use the same mechanics as in the rest of the fight, flying for about 2-3 seconds and then slamming onto the platform, aiming her rot spikes at the player. Be sure to dodge these attacks (as well as the fire sweeping attack) whilst running towards her belly. Spam click your main (or special) attack onto her belly again, until she flies back up and hides in the wither pool.
Phase 2
Imaru will reappear again, but will land in the centre as a spectral form and be immune to all damage. She will charge up an attack that can do a ton of damage, possibly killing you in one hit, or taking half of your health. In order to stop her, you must enter Dragonwilds:Soul Rifting to do enough damage. Be aware Rotsworn Thralls will appear to attack you. Once she falls to the ground, quickly head over to a Dragonwilds:Purification Pool before time runs out. If time is not short, get rid of the thralls. If it's the right time, Imaru should still be on the ground; quickly attack her. It is advised that you aim for an exposed chest.
Phase 3
Once Imaru's health is below 50%, in five seconds, she will land in the middle of the platform, immediately aiming her rot spikes at the player and standing on both. She will then perform a combination of her rot spikes and fire sweep, and these fire sweeps will leave random withered marks on the platform. Be sure to avoid these withered marks by staying close to her. If you become withered, simply aim for a pool before time runs out. She will fly in the air and breathe fire around the arena, stay in the centre until she stops, and be ready to avoid her slam and rot spike. During the end of Phase 3, she will summon explosive rot rocks near you, be sure to avoid them.
Once Imaru is in her spectral version again, become withered, and start attacking her until you encounter more Rotsworn enemies. Kill these enemies quickly, as you will also have 40 seconds to kill the Rotsworn enemies, knock Imaru out of her spectral version, and cleanse yourself with the Purification Pool. After this phase ends, she will continue until the final phase. During these mechanics, you can replenish your health, hunger, thirst or life if needed.
Phase 4
She will continue to repeat all of her mechanics until she is below 10% of her health, and she will enter her spectral form for the last time. Become withered, kill the Rotsworn enemies first, and then attack her spectral version until she is knocked out. Cleanse yourself with the Purification Pools again (all under 40 seconds), and attack her heart once more. Once she is dead, her head will automatically spawn in your quest inventory. If you kill Imaru whilst you are withered, you will automatically go back to normal, and nearby Rotsworn enemies will die in the process.
Hard Mode: Strategy
In this section, we will describe how to fight Imaru in Hard mode.
Imaru's hard mode will summon thralls earlier, and most mechanics will be done earlier as well. While it is possible to do it alone, it may be easier with a group of 2 or more.
Depending on your style of combat, it is recommended that you do the following during the short grace period when entering the boss instance:
- Melee: Use your Dragonwilds:Whetstone to increase your base weapon damage, cast either Dragonwilds:Enchant Weapon: Fire or Dragonwilds:Enchant Weapon: Air for further increase in damage output, drink Ferocious Infusions, and drink Lesser Attack Potions for increased Critical Damage.
- Ranged: For two-handed bows, use Dragonwilds:Spectral Arrows. If you are using Crossbows, make sure to use Dragonwilds:Enchanted Steel Bolts for the lifeward replenishing effect. Make sure to drink Relentless Infusions for the 33% stamina reduction.
- For the above combat styles, make sure to cast Dragonwilds:Tempest Shield. This will aid you in blocking Imaru's bolt attacks and her earth spikes.
- Magic: Use your Dragonwilds:Magical Focus to increase magical damage, drink Arcane Infusions for the 33% reduction to stamina costs, and use Lesser Magic Potions for increased Critical Damage.
- All Styles: Make sure to use Large Wardstones to instantly replenish 90 Lifeward when needed. This, used in conjunction with food/drink that uses the Dragonwilds:Soul Food buff, will give you passive Lifeward that can help you last longer against Imaru. It is recommended to cast Surge and recast it whenever you get the chance.
Her phases are just like normal mode, but the main difference is that her mechanics are activated earlier, and her thralls appear earlier as well.
