This guide is a simplified overview of all the changes in the Template:JE 1.2.x releases, which assumes at least some familiarity with Java Edition 1.1.

Mobs

New

Minecraft:Ocelot and Minecraft:Cat	File:Ocelot JE1 BE1.png Template:Animate	Spawn in Minecraft:jungle biomes.	Template:Xp (when killed by a Minecraft:player or tamed Minecraft:wolf)	Can be tamed using Minecraft:fish. Ocelots turn into cats if tamed. Follow and teleport to the player if they get too far away. Cats scare off nearby Minecraft:creepers.
Minecraft:Iron Golems	File:Iron Golem JE1 BE1.png	Spawn occasionally in Minecraft:villages. Created when 4 Minecraft:iron blocks are placed in a T-shape with a Minecraft:pumpkin on top.	Template:Drop	Defend villages by attacking Minecraft:hostile mobs.

Minecraft:Cave spiders	File:Cave Spider JE1 BE1.png	Now swim quickly.
Minecraft:Creepers	File:Creeper JE3 BE1.png	No longer strafe to the player's left but now simply stop in front of the player when they are about to explode.
Minecraft:Villagers	Template:Animate	Now breed if there are enough empty houses in a Minecraft:village.
Minecraft:Pig (Baby variant)	File:Baby Pig JE1 BE1.png	Saddles can no longer be put on baby pigs. Saddled baby pigs from previous versions can update to this version and still be ridden.
Minecraft:Wolf	File:Wolf JE1 BE1.png	Can now be Minecraft:bred through the use of any type of meat such as chicken (raw or cooked), pork (raw or cooked), beef (raw or cooked), and Minecraft:rotten flesh if tamed and at full Minecraft:health.
Minecraft:Zombies	File:Zombie JE2 BE1.png	Can break down Minecraft:doors on Hard Minecraft:difficulty and in Minecraft:Hardcore mode. Have a rare chance to drop an iron ingot, iron helmet, iron shovel, or iron sword. Navigate to the nearest shadow or body of water for safety when they catch fire. Chase and attack villagers.
Minecraft:Skeletons	File:Skeleton JE4 BE2.png	Have a rare chance to drop a bow or an enchanted bow. Navigate to the nearest shadow or body of water for safety when they catch fire.
Minecraft:Snow golems	File:Snow Golem JE1 BE1.png	Melt and die in the Minecraft:Nether.
Minecraft:Zombie pigmen	File:Zombified Piglin JE3 BE2.png	Have a rare chance to drop a golden helmet, gold ingot, or golden sword (which may be enchanted). Swim faster in water.

Minecraft:Lava	File:Lava JE11.gif	Now has a faint rumbling sound effect, and large particles that hop out of the lava produce a popping sound.
Minecraft:Cobweb	File:Cobweb JE1 BE1.png	Now completely absorb all fall Minecraft:damage.
Minecraft:Stairs and Minecraft:Slab	Template:Animate Template:Animate	Crafting recipe for slabs now yields 6 instead of 3.
Minecraft:Vines	File:Vines (N) JE1.png	Can now be climbed like ladders.
Minecraft:Wool	Template:Animate	Slightly lowered saturation of every color, changing from File:Beta color spectrum.png to File:1.2.4 color spectrum.png.

Gameplay

Minecraft:Controls	When the hotbar is full, using Template:Ctrl replaces the held item.
Minecraft:Debug screen	Added items: lc: Largest section height b: Current biome bl: Block brightness sl: Sky brightness rl: Raw brightness
Minecraft:Multiplayer	Now that biome data saves to chunks, multiplayer servers no longer send clients the Minecraft:world seed, instead the seed displays as "0" to the client.
Minecraft:Third person view	Now has a slight delay on the speed at which the head moves on the player. Makes it possible to see the sides of the player's head.
Minecraft:Death screen	Has a slight delay before buttons become active, to avoid accidentally clicking buttons when killed.
