This guide is a simplified overview of all the changes in the Minecraft:Java Edition Infdev releases, which assumes at least some familiarity with Indev releases.

Gameplay

Minecraft:Far Lands

  • Found beyond 12,550,824 blocks from the center of the world.
Infinite worlds
  • Worlds are now functionally infinite in size, instead of limited to a few hundred blocks across at most.
  • Worlds are now loaded incrementally using Minecraft:chunks, instead of loading in all at once.
  • An entirely new terrain generator has been added, creating more expansive mountains, lakes and caves than before.
  • Caves now contain lava lakes and dirt and gravel patches.
Minecraft:Void

  • Found below bedrock.
  • In prior versions, below the bottom of the world was either an infinite lava sea or an infinite blue sky.
