Mark Abent is a Lead Gameplay Programmer in StarCitizen:CIG Los Angeles.

Work at CIG

He was hired in 2013 to start work on StarCitizen:Arena Commander.

He was originally a Senior Gameplay Programmer and promoted with StarCitizen:Chad McKinney in August 2017 as the engineering team in LA got large and split into two teams.<ref>Chad McKinney's comment on Reddit</ref> He works on systems which directly impact the mechanics of ships. This ranges from the items operating within the ship (power planet, power system, heat system, UI links) to utilizing engine tech to build complex systems which describe a ship: zones/StarCitizen:object containers.<ref name="jp0605">StarCitizen:David Ladyman and StarCitizen:Ben Lesnick, Behind the Screens: Optimization, Jump Point, vol. 6, no. 5, pp. 3-14, 2018-05-31.</ref>

He was the host of the weekly show StarCitizen:Bug Smashers.

Other Works

He started programming in his teen days, modiding Half-Life. He joined ‘Black Mesa,’ which took on remaking the original Half-Life game. This opened opportunities such as getting hired for Insurgency. I stayed on the project through release.<ref name="jp0605" />
