Template:Redirect Template:Infobox item A leather capTemplate:Fn is a variant of Minecraft:helmet that is crafted from Minecraft:leather. It is the eighth-highest Minecraft:tier of helmet, having the lowest armor points and durability. Like all Minecraft:leather armor, it can be Minecraft:dyed and protects the wearer from Minecraft:freezing.
Obtaining
Crafting
Generated loot
Mob loot
Minecraft:Zombies, Minecraft:husks, Minecraft:skeletons, Minecraft:strays, and Minecraft:bogged have a small chance to spawn wearing armor, which may include a leather cap. There is a 8.5% chance (9.5% with Minecraft:Looting I, 10.5% with Looting II and 11.5% with Looting III) for the mob to drop the cap they're wearing upon death. The dropped cap is usually badly damaged, and may be Minecraft:enchanted with enchantment levels 5-19.
Trading
Usage
When worn, a leather cap provides Template:Armor Minecraft:armor point.
Powder snow
As with all pieces of leather armor, wearing a leather cap protects the player from freezing in Minecraft:powder snow.

Combining
Template:Crafting Template:Grinding
Unit repair
Template:Main Template:Repairing
A leather cap can be repaired in an Minecraft:anvil by adding Minecraft:leather, with each leather restoring 25% the cap's maximum durability, rounded down. Two helmets of the same tier can also be combined in an anvil. Both methods preserve the cap's Minecraft:enchantments.
Enchantments
A leather cap can receive the following Minecraft:enchantments.

Armor trimming
It is possible to upgrade armor with trims. This requires a Minecraft:smithing template, a leather cap, and an ingot or crystal (Minecraft:iron ingot, Minecraft:copper ingot, Minecraft:gold ingot, Minecraft:netherite ingot, Minecraft:emerald, Minecraft:redstone dust, Minecraft:lapis lazuli, Minecraft:amethyst shard, Minecraft:nether quartz, Minecraft:diamond, or Minecraft:resin brick).
These trims have no effect on the gameplay or strength of the armor. Template:Smithing
Dyeing
Leather caps can be dyed by combining it with Minecraft:dye(s) through crafting Template:In, or by Template:Control it on a Minecraft:cauldron containing dyed Minecraft:water Template:In. Template:Control dyed leather caps on a cauldron containing ordinary water removes any dye from it.
