Template:Redirect

Template:Infobox entity A bogged is a Minecraft:mushroom-covered Minecraft:skeleton variant that spawns in Minecraft:swamps and Minecraft:mangrove swamps. Bogged behave similarly to skeletons, but have less Minecraft:health, fire their Minecraft:bows more slowly, take damage from Minecraft:powder snow, cannot convert to Minecraft:strays, and shoot Minecraft:tipped arrows of Minecraft:Poison.

Spawning

Bogged can spawn in Minecraft:swamps and Minecraft:mangrove swamps, replacing about 30% of Minecraft:skeletons, as well as in Minecraft:trial chambers via Minecraft:trial spawners.

Natural spawning

  • Template:IN, they spawn in groups of four at a light level of 0 and can spawn both underground and above ground.
  • Template:IN, they spawn in groups of 1--2 at light levels 0 through 7, meaning they can spawn during the day in Minecraft:mangrove swamps where the overhead canopy is dense enough, but they cannot spawn underground.

Trial spawners

Bogged have a Template:Frac chance to be selected as the "ranged" mob for trial spawners in trial chambers.

Spider jockeys

Template:ExclusiveMinecraft:Spiders and Minecraft:cave spiders spawned in swamps and mangrove swamps have a 1% chance to spawn as a Minecraft:spider jockey, with an 80% chance of the rider being a bogged.

Drops

On death

Template:DropTable

Shearing

A bogged drops 2 Minecraft:mushrooms when Minecraft:sheared. Each individual mushroom has an equal chance of dropping as either a brown or Minecraft:red mushroom. Afterward, it cannot be sheared again, and the mushrooms growing from its head are permanently removed from the bogged.

Behavior

File:Bogged Attacking Screenshot.png
A bogged attacking the player.

Bogged behave the same as normal skeletons and shoot Minecraft:tipped arrows that inflict Minecraft:Poison for 4 seconds (dealing Template:Hp Minecraft:damage) on any target that they hit. When shooting their Minecraft:bow, bogged are just as fast as skeletons or Minecraft:strays, but bogged have a longer cooldown between attacks. The cooldown is 3.5 seconds on Easy and Normal Minecraft:difficulties, or 2.5 seconds on Hard. This is 1.5 seconds slower than the skeleton's attack Minecraft:cooldown. A bogged holding a Minecraft:tipped arrow or Minecraft:spectral arrow in its off-hand always shoots that type of arrow instead, and the Minecraft:arrow held is not consumed.

Unlike regular skeletons, bogged in Minecraft:powder snow take freezing Minecraft:damage and do not convert into strays.<ref>Template:Bug</ref>

Being an Minecraft:undead mob, they are:

As they are also under the "skeletons" Minecraft:entity type tag, if a bogged kills a Minecraft:creeper, the creeper drops a Minecraft:music disc, randomly selected from 13, cat, blocks, chirp, far, mall, mellohi, stal, strad, ward, 11, and wait.

The eyes of bogged are emissive with Minecraft:Vibrant Visuals, similar to strays and Minecraft:parched.

Trivia

  • In real life, human corpses can become mummified within peat bogs, with levels of preservation varying from perfect to just the skeletons. These are referred to as Template:W.
  • In Template:BE, before Minecraft:1.21.20, the bogged's behavior Minecraft:JSON file was actually copied and pasted from the Minecraft:stray's behavior Minecraft:JSON file. This caused Template:Bug, where bogged can inflict the Minecraft:Slowness effect when melee-attacking underwater or without a bow. This also caused Template:Bug, where instead shooting poison arrows every 3.5 seconds, they shot arrows every 1-3 seconds, depending on the distance the player was from the bogged.
