Minecraft:Java Edition 1.1

1.1 is a major update to Template:JE released on January 12, 2012,<ref>Template:Cite</ref> which adds Minecraft:spawn eggs, support for multiple Minecraft:languages, the Minecraft:Superflat world type, and beaches. It is the first update to begin using Minecraft:snapshots, to add support for other languages, and the first of only two major releases that did not introduce any new blocks, second being Minecraft:Java Edition 1.18.

There were no subsequent minor versions to 1.1. It was the first version to be released under Minecraft:Jens Bergensten as the lead creative developer of Minecraft. This is also the first version released in 2012.

Template:Animate Minecraft:Spawn eggs

• Spawns mobs when Template:Control.
• 20 types of spawn eggs, each spawning their respective mob:

Minecraft:Biomes

• Biomes have more varied elevations of land in previously flatter biomes.
  • These biomes include desert, forest, and taiga.
• Smoothed color transitions between biomes.
  • Minecraft:Swampland grass, foliage, and water smoothly transition into other biomes.

Template:BiomeLink

• Changed temperature value from 0.3 to 0.05, making taigas generate with snow again.

Gameplay

Minecraft:Brewing

• Reduced brewing time from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.

Minecraft:Enchanting

• Narrowed the various possibility of enchantment levels.

Minecraft:Void

• Removed the void fog in creative mode.
• Removed the void fog in the nether and the end.

Minecraft:Chat

• Players can now enter Minecraft:formatting codes in chat to obfuscate the text and change its color.<ref group=note name="Release change" /> <ref group=note name="Reverted in 12w04a">This change was silently reverted in the 12w04a development snapshot for 1.2.1.</ref>

• Minecraft:Formatting code §k no longer makes obfuscated texts switch color randomly between Template:Color and Template:Color.

General

Minecraft:Pause menu

• Renamed the "Save and quit to title" button to "Save and Quit to Title".

Minecraft:Servers

• Non-operator users now get auto-kicked in multiplayer servers if they spam in chat too much.
  • Operators are not notified of the kick; they must check through external tools such as the server console or through Minecraft:server.jar.

• Added disconnect message disconnect.spam.

Fixes

3 bugs fixed

• Fixed "Sniper Duel" achievement not working.
• Fixed Minecraft:powered rails not depowering.

Trivia

• The client JAR file erroneously includes uncompiled Java source files for the isometric preview applet under the directory isom. The files are:
