Template:External Template:Otheruses Template:Infobox Skill width=70x70Ranged is one of the eleven Dragonwilds:Skills in Runescape: Dragonwilds, is one of the three combat styles, and was released in 0.9. Fighting Dragonwilds:Monsters using ranged combat levels a player's Ranged to gain various bonuses that enhance their effectiveness with the skill.

Players use Ranged Weapons in combat to earn Ranged experience. The higher the tier of the weapons and ammo used, the higher the base damage and, thus, the more experience earned.

In addition, players can gain experience from Ranged Skill Tomes and special reward tomes like the Dragonwilds:Tome of the Dragon Slayer.

Equipment

Weapons

Ranged Weapons can be divided into three major classifications:

  • Longbows require Dragonwilds:Arrows and must be drawn while aiming, providing players with an advantage in long-range combat. Fully drawing the bow takes more time than shortbows but provides higher base damage and an additional damage bonus. Attacking without aiming will instead use a Dragonwilds:Melee-based attack to push away close enemies.
  • Dragonwilds:Shortbows require Dragonwilds:Arrows and can be drawn without aiming, allowing players to release arrows in close combat quickly. Shortbows have lower base damage than their longbow counterparts but have an increased firing rate.
  • Dragonwilds:Crossbows require Dragonwilds:Bolts, are optimal at short distances, and fire quicker than shortbows. They are also a one-handed ranged weapon, allowing players to utilise Dragonwilds:Shields to Dragonwilds:Parry.

Ammunition

Armour

Dragonwilds:Ranged armour provides a base defensive stat but also provides a stacking passive bonus, the more of the same combat type (i.e., melee, ranged, mage) you equip. Players can mix and match within that type. For example, a player wearing a Dragonwilds:Ranger Hat (ranged), Dragonwilds:Green Dragonhide Body (ranged), and Dragonwilds:White Platelegs (melee) will get the second tier of ranged set bonuses and the first tier of melee set bonuses. The ranged armour set bonuses are:

Boosts

Players can consume Dragonwilds:Potions, eat Dragonwilds:Food, or equip Dragonwilds:Trinkets to increase Ranged experience or increase damage and, indirectly, the experience.

Experience mechanics

Players who deal regular damage will receive <math>0.25 \times damage\ dealt</math> experience depending on the maximum health of the enemy. Players who deal critical damage will receive <math>0.5 \times damage\ dealt</math> experience, depending on the maximum health of the enemy. For example, if a player deals 88 regular damage to a Dragonwilds:chicken, the player will only receive 5 Ranged experience, since the maximum health of the chicken is 20 hitpoints (20 hitpoints x .25 experience factor = 5 experience).

See Dragonwilds:experience for a table of the experience required to reach each level.

Trivia

  • Before the 0.9 update, this skill did not have a skill tree. While there did exist ranged weapons, the only way to level up this skill was by finding skill tomes.
    • This is similar to the Magic skill prior the 0.8 update.
