12w36a is the fourth Minecraft:snapshot for Minecraft:Java Edition 1.4.2, released on September 6, 2012,<ref>https://web.archive.org/web/20120907124808/http://www.mojang.com/2012/09/minecraft-snapshot-12w36a/</ref> which adds wither skeletons and mob heads, makes the wither spawnable, makes beacons craftable, adds the wither painting, carrots on a stick and the nether star.

• Can also attract pigs.

Mobs

• Give players Minecraft:Wither effect when hitting them.
• Carry and rarely drop stone swords when killed by players.
• Drop Minecraft:bones and Minecraft:coal.
• Have a high chance to spawn from a Minecraft:skeleton Minecraft:spawn egg if used in the Nether.
• Wither skeletons can replace skeletons on Minecraft:spider jockeys.
  • Spawned by using a Minecraft:spider spawn egg in the Nether.

• Player needs to place 4 pieces of Minecraft:soul sand in a vertical T-shape and place 3 Minecraft:wither skeleton skulls on top to create it.

• When spawned in the Minecraft:Overworld, the Minecraft:sky gets darker.
• Gives players Wither II Minecraft:effect when hitting them.
• Its name is now displayed correctly above its HP bar.
