Dragonwilds:Brakka
More actions
Template:Infobox NPC Brakka was a Template:RSL Dragonkin scientist and architect who migrated to Dragonwilds:Ashenfall with other members of his kin. Known for his architectural genius and scientific advancements, he was responsible for creating many of the dragons that would later populate the continent, including the fearsome Dragonwilds:General Velgar.
History
Arrival on Ashenfall
Brakka arrived on Ashenfall with other Dragonkin including Dragonwilds:Lacrussa, Dragonwilds:Rasthin, Dragonwilds:Avisk, and the seer Dragonwilds:Viika. Like his kin, he was drawn to the continent's unusual properties, particularly the abundance of anima energy that "seeps into the stone, the trees, the water, and even the air."
Scientific experiments and achievements
Brakka was renowned among the Dragonkin for his architectural genius. In his own words:
"I can do a lot with this continent. The stone looks sturdy, the metal firm. Even the wood feels as though I could make it last centuries before it rots into nothing. It is the perfect place to create a new home. To fashion the foundations of the next dragonkin city."
He designed and built numerous structures across Ashenfall, including towering vaults and monuments. His most significant creation was a massive tower in the Dragonwilds:Fractured Plains called Brakka's Folly as a reminder of his hubris.Template:CiteJournal. Brakka was particularly dismissive of the seer Dragonwilds:Viika's prophecies, considering them "rambling" and "vague."
Creation of dragons
After learning to harness the unique magical properties of Ashenfall from Rasthin, Brakka began experimenting with this power. He was instrumental in the creation of various dragons, including General Velgar, infusing them with elemental abilities derived from the continent's ambient anima. These dragons were typically kept under control through various means, including Bloodwood sap, which Dragonwilds:Lacrussa used. Template:CiteJournal
Deal with Lougrim
During the Template:RSL, which spilled over to Ashenfall, Brakka made a strategic alliance with Dragonwilds:Lougrim, the moon goddess and High Queen of the Garou. The Garou were losing their war against an alliance between the Saradominists and goblins led by the God of War, Dragonwilds:Bandos. Brakka agreed to help Lougrim turn the tide of battle by releasing his dragons to fight against the human-goblin alliance. In exchange, she would assist with his ongoing experiments and provide resources for his work.
When Bandos led an attack against the Garou, he confronted Velgar in Brakka's Folly, where Bandos fought the dragon in single combat.Template:CiteJournal But, due to the gods' arrogance, Velgar was victoriousTemplate:CiteJournal, leading to the Garou's victory. Instead of granting Velgar freedom for his victory, Brakka would return him to his chains.Template:CiteJournal
Dragon rebellion
During the end of the Dragonwilds:Third Age, Kuldra would lead the Dragonwilds:Dragon Rebellion, an event that led to the death of the dragons' creators, the dragonkin. Brakka met his end in the very tower he had built.Template:CiteJournal Kuldra would devour Brakka, and teach Velgar how to devour anima as well, giving the dragon the power of the earth, like Brakka.
Legacy
Despite his death, Brakka's architectural and scientific legacy remains visible throughout Ashenfall. The Dragonwilds:vaults he designed still stand, containing powerful artifacts and knowledge. His tower, though repurposed by Velgar, remains a testament to his skill as an architect.
His creation of the dragons would forever change the political and military landscape of Ashenfall, establishing them as the dominant force on the continent after the Dragon Rebellion.
