Minecraft:Java Edition guides/Buzzy Bees

This guide is a simplified overview of all the changes in the Minecraft:Buzzy Bees update (Template:JE 1.15.x releases), which assumes at least some familiarity with the Minecraft:Village & Pillage update (Java Edition 1.14.x releases).

Mobs

Minecraft:Bees

Spawn near Minecraft:bee nests.

Template:Xp (when killed by a Minecraft:player or tamed Minecraft:wolf)

Inflict Poison if provoked. Attack in a swarm.

Changed

All mobs		Better at avoiding walking through Minecraft:lava.
Spawning		When breedable Minecraft:mobs in groups spawn naturally they sometimes spawn babies in the groups. Has a 5% chance for Minecraft:foxes, Minecraft:cows, Minecraft:sheep, Minecraft:pigs, and Minecraft:chickens, and a 10% chance for Minecraft:wolves, Minecraft:llamas, and Minecraft:horses.
Minecraft:Ender dragon	File:Ender Dragon.gif	Removed a black dot on the transparent parts of wing texture. Removed texture for part of wing bottom in the dying ender dragon.
Minecraft:Iron golem	Template:Animate	Now use the Template:Cd attribute. Now starts cracking upon losing health. There are 4 stages, from uncracked to fully cracked, before the golem dies. Can be healed using Minecraft:iron ingots. One iron ingot restores 25% of its health. It takes 4 iron ingots to repair an iron golem from 1 HP to full health.
Minecraft:Magma cube, Minecraft:ocelot, and Minecraft:slime	Template:Animate	Now use the Template:Cd attribute.
Minecraft:Parrot	Template:Animate	Can now sit on a player's shoulder even when the player is riding an entity. Can no longer imitate Minecraft:endermen, Minecraft:polar bears, Minecraft:wolves, and Minecraft:zombie pigmen.
Nitwit Minecraft:villagers	Template:Animate	No longer have a leveling gemstone in their belt.

Blocks

Minecraft:Beehive	File:Beehive (S) JE1 BE1.png		Axe	Houses bees. If the player breaks or harvests honey from it, its bees become hostile to the player. Bees inside the hive do not turn hostile if it is harvested with Silk Touch. Bees do not turn hostile if there is a Minecraft:campfire underneath the hive when honeycombs or honey bottles are harvested.
Minecraft:Bee nest	File:Bee Nest (S) JE1 BE1.png	Spawn naturally in Minecraft:forests, Minecraft:birch forests, Minecraft:tall birch forests, Minecraft:flower forests, Minecraft:plains, Minecraft:sunflower plains, Minecraft:birch forest hills, Minecraft:tall birch hills, and Minecraft:wooded hills biomes.	Any (only drops with Minecraft:Silk Touch)	Functions the same as beehives.
Minecraft:Honey block	File:Honey Block JE1 BE2.png		Any	Works the same way as Minecraft:slime blocks. Does not stick to slime blocks. Carries mobs along that are standing on it while being moved, in contrast to slime blocks. Mobs usually avoid walking on them. Entities can slide down its sides, similar to a ladder. Falling on it absorbs 80% of fall damage.
Minecraft:Honeycomb block	File:Honeycomb Block JE1 BE1.png		Any	Decorative block.

Changed

Minecraft:Bell	File:Bell.png	Rings if powered with a redstone signal. No longer causes the hand animation to play when Template:Control on in a non-functional spot.
Minecraft:Campfire	File:Campfire JE2 BE2.gif	Can now be extinguished with a Minecraft:shovel.
Minecraft:Composter	File:Composter.png	Now crafted with Minecraft:wooden slabs (like in Bedrock Edition), instead of fences and wooden planks.
Minecraft:Dispenser	File:Dispenser.png	Can now harvest honeycombs when dispensing shears on bee nests and beehives filled with honey. The honeycomb items are dropped on the ground. Can now collect water bottles and honey bottles when dispensing glass bottles on water and beehives. Can now place down armor stands. Fire charges launched from a dispenser now light campfires. Firework rockets dispensed from a dispenser now travel in the direction they were fired.
Minecraft:End stone bricks	File:End Stone Bricks JE2 BE2.png	Now have the same hardness and blast resistance as Minecraft:end stone.
Minecraft:Farmland	File:Farmland.png	Blocks that can be manually placed on farmland without turning it into dirt can now also be pushed onto it by a piston without turning the farmland.
Minecraft:Iron doors	File:Iron Door.png	Must now be mined with a pickaxe for it to be dropped as an item.
Minecraft:Large fern	File:Large Fern JE2.png	Now drop wheat seeds.
Minecraft:Melon stems and Minecraft:pumpkin stems	File:Attached Melon Stem.png File:Attached Pumpkin Stem.png	Attached stems now drop their seeds again when broken.
Minecraft:Nether portal	File:Nether Portal.png	Portals from the Overworld can now correctly link with portals placed in the top half of the Nether.
Minecraft:Rails	File:Rail.png	Now place facing the player, rather than always north-south.
Minecraft:Redstone comparators	File:Redstone Comparator.png	Can now detect how much honey is inside beehives and bee nests. The output strength is equal to the amount of honey in the hive.
Oak and birch Minecraft:saplings	Template:Animate	If grown with a Minecraft:flower within a 5×3×5 volume centered on the sapling, they have a 5% chance to generate a Minecraft:bee nest on the side of the tree.
Minecraft:Stripped wood	Template:Animate	Can now be crafted out of stripped logs.
Minecraft:Wet sponge	File:Wet Sponge JE2 BE2.png	Now dries out when placed in Minecraft:the Nether.
Minecraft:Dark prismarine	File:Dark Prismarine JE2 BE2.png	Now crafted with black dye instead of an ink sac.

Items

Minecraft:Honey bottle	File:Honey Bottle JE1 BE2.png	Obtained by using a bottle on beehives/nests with a Template:Cd of 5.	Restores Template:Hunger and 1.2 saturation. Removes Poison. Used to craft honey blocks. Can be consumed regardless of the player's hunger.
Minecraft:Honeycomb	File:Honeycomb JE2 BE2.png	Obtained by using Minecraft:shears on beehives/nests with a Template:Cd of 5.	Used to craft beehives and honeycomb blocks.
Bee Minecraft:spawn egg	File:Bee Spawn Egg JE2 BE1.png	Can be obtained only via creative inventory.	Has the same function as other spawn eggs.

Changed

Minecraft:Boat	Template:Animate	When used as fuel, one boat now smelts 6 items in a furnace, blast furnace, or smoker instead of 1.
Minecraft:Spawn eggs for Minecraft:drowned, Minecraft:husk, Minecraft:zombie pigman, Minecraft:zombie, and Minecraft:zombie villager		Can now be used on adult versions of these mobs to spawn baby variants.

Non-mob entities

Minecraft:Dragon fireball	File:Dragon Fireball JE2.png	The texture has been changed, which now resembles the Minecraft:fire charge texture after the Minecraft:Texture Update.
Minecraft:Experience orb	Template:Animate	Experience orbs now appear at the same spatial and temporal location as loot when an entity is killed. Now render as translucent again.
