Village & Pillage logo.

Template:Relevant guide Village & Pillage is the name for a major update themed around overhauling villages that was released for Template:El, Template:El, Template:El, and Template:El.

This update was released for Template:El as version 1.14 on April 23, 2019. The update's development started with snapshot Minecraft:18w43a. The first pre-release for Java Edition 1.14 was released on April 10, 2019, followed by the second on April 12, the third on April 16, the fourth on April 17, and the fifth on April 18.

On Template:El, features of Village & Pillage were split into four separate versions: 1.8.0, released on December 11, 2018; 1.9.0, released on February 5, 2019; 1.10.0, released on March 19, 2019; and the main update as version 1.11.0 released on April 23, 2019. Additional features were added in 1.13.0 on October 29, 2019.

Template:El was the only version of the Template:El to receive the update. Similar to Bedrock Edition, it was divided into four separate versions: 1.83 (based on Bedrock 1.8.0), released on December 18, 2018; 1.88 (based on Bedrock 1.9.0), released on February 26, 2019; 1.90 (based on Bedrock 1.10.0), released on April 15, 2019; and the main update as 1.91 (based on Bedrock 1.11.0), released on June 3, 2019. PlayStation 4 Edition never received the additional features introduced in Bedrock Edition 1.13.0.

Additionally, features from this update were also released for Template:El in 1.9, 1.12.0, and 1.14.31.

The official name for the update, Village and Pillage was revealed on September 29, 2018, during the Minecraft:MINECON Earth 2018 livestream.

For the Template:El, the full update was released on July 4, 2019, based on Minecraft:Bedrock Edition 1.11.0.

In promotion of Village & Pillage, a free map was released on the Minecraft:Marketplace. Produced by Jigarbov Productions, the map tells the story of a trader, who is gifted with the ability to speak with villagers and help defeat the illagers. The map contains four original skins: Traveling Trader, Dala Llama, Vasco da Llama, and Exploring Entrepreneur. Once the main story is completed, it can be used as a regular survival world.

Trivia

  • The pillagers were previously mentioned by Jeb in response to a suggestion posted on Reddit.<ref name="amount">https://reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/61n196/new_mob_idea_the_pillager/</ref>
  • The Village & Pillage trailer has a few game mechanics that were not introduced in 1.14. At 34 seconds into the video, the player throws a sword, and at 44 seconds, a cleric throws a blue version of redstone. The blue redstone was later confirmed to have been a rendering error.<ref>Template:Tweet</ref>
  • The official artwork for the Village & Pillage update shows a Minecraft:witch holding a potion with one hand, despite the fact that witch's arms are always folded like those of a villager.
  • On the China Edition, the title screen is the Village & Pillage artwork, but with an extra vex and Steve flying with elytra.
