Minecraft:Combat

  • The "attack strength" combat mechanic.
    • A meter shows up after switching items or attacking.
      • Damage done depends on the fullness of the meter, with a quadratic reduction (attack does 20%–100% of normal damage as the meter fills).
      • Fills at different rates depending on the new attack speed attribute (see table on the changes to gameplay section for a complete list).
      • Can be displayed next to the hotbar (left or right based on the player's main hand), under the crosshair or turned off.
    • A cooldown animation is displayed of the Minecraft:tool slowly being lifted up, when either first switching to it or after attacking.

  • Holding Template:Keys and double-clicking while holding an item moves all items of the type clicked on in or out of the chest, to the extent that space is available for them.
  • A chest can be "locked" by setting its Lock tag using the Template:Cmd command. If a chest's Lock tag is not blank, the chest cannot be opened except by players holding an item with the same name as the Lock tag's text. Splashes

Splash text Explanation
Moderately attractive! Prior to Minecraft:1.16 Pre-release 3, this splash read "Sexy!"
It's finished! Prior to Minecraft 1.0.0 RC1, this read "When it's finished!".
Kind of dragon free! It may be a possible reference to a quote from Minecraft:Wurm Online, wherein Minecraft:Notch states that "we will never add dragons". Dragons were eventually added, however. The same thing happened in Minecraft with the addition of the Minecraft:ender dragon in Minecraft:Beta 1.9 Prerelease 4. Before RC1, this splash read "Absolutely dragon free!".
Uses LWJGL! Minecraft uses LWJGL.
Singleplayer! Minecraft was, at the time this splash was created, a one-player game.
Keyboard compatible! Minecraft is playable with a keyboard. This splash text still appears in versions that do not contain keyboard support, such as Minecraft:Legacy Console Edition. This issue was fixed in the Minecraft:New Nintendo 3DS Edition only, as the splash text was replaced with “Touch Compatible!” Which, this version, indeed, is touch compatible.
Not on steam! Template:Wp is an online service used to distribute many games. Both versions of Minecraft for PC, Minecraft: Java Edition and the Bedrock-based Minecraft for Windows, are not sold via Steam, but only on Xbox Store and the Minecraft website. However, three spin-offs (Minecraft: Story Mode, Minecraft Dungeons, Minecraft Legends) released on Steam.
Now with difficulty! Minecraft:Difficulty may be set to Peaceful, Easy, Normal, or Hard.
Ceci n'est pas une title screen! "Ceci n'est pas une" is French for "This is not a"; the phrase refers to Template:Wp (La trahison des images), a painting by the Template:Wp Magritte, which depicts a pipe with the sentence "Ceci n'est pas une pipe." ("This is not a pipe.") written beneath it. The all-French version of this splash would be "Ceci n'est pas un écran d'accueil !"
Now on OpenGL 3.3 core profile! Another technology used by Template:JE. This splash has been changed multiple times over time, previously being "Now on OpenGL 3.2 core profile!" in versions prior to Minecraft:1.21.9 (Minecraft:Java Edition 25w37a), "OpenGL 2.1 (if supported!)" in versions prior to Minecraft:1.17 (Minecraft:21w10a), "Open GL 1.2!" in versions prior to Minecraft:1.8 (Minecraft:14w06a) and "OpenGL 1.1!" in versions prior to 1.0 Minecraft:RC1.
Age of Wonders is better! Template:Wp is a PC turn-based strategy game. It is often to be compared with "Template:Wp", which is also a turn-based strategy game.
Not as cool as Spock! Template:Wp is a popular Template:Wp character. Prior to Minecraft:1.8.5, this splash read "Cooler than Spock!". Template:Wp, who played Spock, died on February 27, 2015, one week after the release of Minecraft:1.8.3 and 84 days before the text was changed.
Seecret Friday update! Before Minecraft went Minecraft:Beta, updates were released weekly, every Friday. Minecraft:Notch called these updates "Minecraft:Seecret Friday updates".
Reference implementation! Refers to Template:Wp.
BTAF used to be good! Template:Wp is a comic strip that has been running since 1992.
I miss ADOM! Ancient Domains of Mystery is an old, but popular and unique rogue-like game, featuring a world made completely of Template:Wp characters for graphics, dungeons (random and infinite), and monsters, but also many (optional) storylines that help hold all the features together to stop it from becoming boring.
SWM forever! SWM stands for "Single White Male".
Woo, facepunch! Facepunch was a game forum. It has since shut down, but this splash is still in the game. Facepunch is also the developer of Template:Wp, another sandbox game (which also happens to have a "Minecraftify" texturizing option).
Woo, somethingawful! SomethingAwful is an internet site.
Woo, tigsource! TIGSource is an indie game development forum where Notch originally posted Minecraft.
Woo, worldofminecraft! World of Minecraft is yet another popular Minecraft forum.

Now supports åäö! These characters are not part of the standard 26-character Latin alphabet, but are used in the Swedish alphabet (many Scandinavian languages use such extended versions of the Latin alphabet). Minecraft now supports these characters in in-game input fields.
MAP11 has two names! Reference to the level MAP11 in the game Template:Wp, which is called both "Circle of Death" and "O' of Destruction!" in-game.
Jag känner en bot! Swedish for "I know a bot". Refers to the first line of the song "Template:Wp" by the Swedish dance artist, Template:Wp.
This text is hard to read if you play the game at the default resolution, but at 1080p it's fine! The splash text scales to fit, making this particular splash difficult to read at lower resolutions.
Slow acting portals! Portals to Minecraft:the Nether (but not Minecraft:the End) take a few seconds to activate, although in Minecraft:Creative mode, they are instant. In addition, it is satire on many claims about Template:Wp i.e. "Fast acting stain remover" or "Fast acting solvent".
Try the Nether! A reference to Minecraft:the Nether, which was added in this version.
Finally with ladders! Minecraft:Ladders were added to the game in Minecraft:Infdev.
Turing complete! Template:Wp is a term used in computer science for machines and programming languages that are able to perform all operations of a Template:Wp. The Minecraft:redstone mechanism is one of them.
Ryan also has amazing hair! Referring to former Mojang employee Minecraft:Ryan Holtz having long, brown hair.
Kinda like Lemmings! Template:Wp is a game which also features mining, digging and blowing things up.
This message will never appear on the splash screen, isn't that weird? As its text implies, the splash is never displayed.
DungeonQuest is unfair! Template:Wp is a board game whose gameplay relies on the players creating the playing board by randomly selecting tiles and placing them on a grid.
Check out the far lands! The Minecraft:Far Lands were the "limit" of the infinite map, until Minecraft:Notch accidentally fixed them in Minecraft:Beta 1.8. Ironically, this splash was added to the game after the Far Lands were fixed.
Also try VVVVVV! Template:Wp is a 2D puzzle-platformer game based on gravity manipulation. Both it and Minecraft were included in the Humble Indie Bundle 3.
Also try Super Meat Boy! Template:Wp is a 2D platformer game based on difficult levels.
Also try Terraria! Terraria is a 2D action-adventure, open-world sandbox / platformer game with a similar premise to Minecraft. Terraria features title messages similar to splashes; one of the messages reads "Terraria: Also try Minecraft!".
Also try Mount And Blade! Template:Wp is a medieval-themed RPG for Microsoft Windows.
Also try Project Zomboid! Template:Wp is a zombie apocalypse-themed game.
Also try World of Goo! Template:Wp is a 2D physics-based puzzle game.
Also try Limbo! Template:Wp is a 2D puzzle-platformer game based on avoiding ingenious traps.
Also try Pixeljunk Shooter! Template:Wp is a 2D shooter that is available on the Template:Wp and PC.
Also try Braid! Template:Wp is a 2D puzzle-platformer game based on time manipulation.
Made by Jeb! Minecraft:Jeb became the lead Minecraft developer once Minecraft:Notch stepped down from developing it in 2011. This splash was added by Notch.
Has an ending! A reference to Minecraft:the End.
Finally complete! A reference to the fact that Minecraft has finally left Minecraft:Beta. While it may have been "officially released", it is (in reality) far from "complete" and continually being developed.
Déjà vu! Template:Wp is the experience of feeling sure that one has already witnessed or experienced a current situation.

日本ハロー! Japanese for "Hello, Japan!". Along with the 5 splashes below, was added in 1.1, which added support for multiple languages.
한국 안녕하세요! Chinese for "Hello, China!", written in simplified characters. Actually, there must be a comma after the character "好".
Γεια σου Ελλάδα! Greek for "Hello, Greece!".
FUNKY LOL (Obfuscated) This splash is stored as "§kFUNKY LOL" in splashes.txt; as with the "Colormatic" splash, the "§k" is a Minecraft:formatting code, but instead of changing the color of the following text, the code obfuscates the text, replacing it with random, rapidly-changing characters.
Java 16 + 1 + 4 * 2 = 25! Support for Java 5 was dropped in Minecraft Minecraft:1.6.1. Before Minecraft:1.7.2, this splash read "Almost java 6!". Before Minecraft:1.12, this splash read "Now Java 6!". Before Minecraft:1.17, this splash read "Now Java 8!". Before 1.18, this splash read "Now Java 16!".
